Admission to the MBA Program
Success in the MBA program offered by the Graduate School of Management depends on a number
of factors ranging from motivation to practical knowledge to academic ability. The primary
purpose of the admission process is to determine a prospective student's potential to
successfully complete the requirements for the MBA degree. Because the school enrolls
full-time, part-time and international students a variety of paths are available to
individuals seeking admission.
Applicants may be admitted to pursue courses in one of three MBA admission categories:
Full Admission allows a student who is in good standing with the University to take
any number of GSM courses in pursuit of a graduate degree. Once a student achieves Full
Admission status he or she may take courses in any order as long as all course prerequisites are met.
Conditional Admission allows an applicant who does not meet the Full Admission
requirements to begin classes in GSM under specific conditions. Once these conditions
have been met the student will be granted Full Admission status.
Special Student (Transfer) Admission allows a student to take up to four courses
to be transferred to a graduate program at another university.
Applicants who are unable to provide all official documents prior to the admissions
review process, but who have submitted adequate unofficial documents to determine eligibility,
may be provisionally admitted into the categories of Full Admission, Conditional Admission, or
Special Student (Transfer) Admission. Students admitted provisionally must provide complete and
satisfactory documents before the end of their first trimester to continue in the program.
To be considered for admission, all applicants for the MBA program must have a U.S. bachelor's
degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or the foreign equivalent
thereof. International applicants, including permanent residents living in the U.S., must also
provide proof of proficiency in the English language (see details: ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS).
No specific undergraduate major or concentration is required to pursue any GSM program.
Applications for admission are considered by the Admissions Committee according to the
stated criteria and without regard to age, sex, disability, race, color, religion, or national origin.
