April 15, 2003 The Center of Information Assurance at the University of Dallas is working on a presentation on Digital Forensics
for late June 2003 to be led by Andy Rosen, a leading authority on Digital Forensics. The presentation will be held at the
university's main campus. More details will follow shortly.
April 8, 2003 The University of Dallas today was awarded a certificate by Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, the
Honorable John Stenbit, for having successfully mapped to NSTISSI 4011. The university is continuing its efforts to map to
additional NSTISSI standards.
April 8, 2003 The University of Dallas was formally informed today by the National Security Agency that it had achieved
Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Information Assurance accreditation, thereby joining only 49 other institutions in
the United States to have achieved such accreditation. Such accreditation is effective for a three year period. Formal
presentation of CAE accreditation will take place in June 2003 in Washington, D.C.

Internet Backbone Attacked - Dr. John Nugent, Director of the Center for Information Assurance (IA)
alerted the students and Advisory Committee Members of an important news item regarding a recent
massive attack on the backbone of the United States' public internet infrastructure that have not
yet been reported by most of the news media. The Washington Post reported that
this was the most significant massive attack on these central backbone Internet

November 14, 2002 "How to Configure a Firewall," a one day seminar co-sponsored
with GSM by the Information Systems Accounting Control Association (ISACA) led by GSM faculty, John South,
MBA, CISSP, Shawn Irving, MBA, CISA, CPA, and Dr. John Nugent, CPA. Seminar addressed the configuration
of firewalls and IDS systems.
