MBA in Business Management

The curriculum for the MBA program in Business Management includes a set of program courses designed to provide a strong business foundation for all students , plus a set of specialized courses for the Business specialization. These specialized courses allow students the flexibility of choosing a specific concentration of study. During the final trimester students attend the Capstone course, which is designed to integrate all earlier coursework.

The course requirements for the MBA in Business Management Program require the completion of 49 credit hours or 16 courses all offered at Allstate. This number may be reduced to a minimum of 37 hours for students who qualify for course waivers on the basis of undergraduate business coursework or course transfers from another graduate institution.

Each graduate course grants 3 hours of credit. In addition, students attend 10 lectures as part of the Ethics and Management Lecture Series, for which they receive one credit hour. These lectures can be attended at the Irving Campus or seen via video at the Allstate Campus. Utilizing our trimester system (12 weeks), most part-time students complete the MBA in two-and-one-half to three years.

Graduate admissions is based on academic and professional criteria plus factors that indicate an individual's aptitude, motivation and leadership ability. Admission counseling and registration is conducted on-site at Allstate.

Business Management

The MBA in Business Management prepares managerial generalists who can deal effectively with specialists from all business functions. These generalists are trained to identify and analyze problems across a wide area of business activities; develop strategic thinking and tactical solutions; reach balanced decisions and implement those decisions effectively and efficiently.A student's education includes a thorough grounding in theory and analytical techniques as well as participation in real-world projects. Instead of traditional textbook case studies and simulations, two prime project courses (MGT. 7379 Market Research and MGT. 8390 Business Management Capstone) enable students to apply concepts to resolving "live" managerial problems. In these courses, students learn to manage by managing.
