4 eggs
250g brown sugar
200g margarine
325g self-rising flour
1tsp baking powder
1.5kg green apples (sour)
1tbsp vanilla flavor
4tbsp fine sugar
100g almond-nut pie filling
Mix margarine and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Stir in 4 egg yolks until smooth. Slowly add flour and baking powder. Knead until dough becomes firm. Spread evenly one half of the dough in a large, greased baking pan. Cover first layer of the dough with the almond-nut pie filling. In a separate bowl grate peeled apples on a coarse greater and add vanilla flavor. Spread apple mixture over the almond-nut filling. Grate second half of the dough on the coarse greater over the apple mixture and bake at 350 degrees F. for 35-40 minutes or until surface becomes golden brown and crispy. In a large mixing bowl beat remaining egg whites for 5-6 minutes and when they become firm mix in the fine sugar. Spread egg whites over the baked pie and return to bake for 5 more minutes until surface becomes crispy.
